The Siena Awards Photo Festival 2026 opens on October 10 in Siena, bringing together internationally recognized photographers and photojournalists for exhibitions, awards and cultural discussions. Running until November 29, the festival explores global themes including environmental conservation, human rights, armed conflict and social inequality. Featured projects include Cinzia Canneri's documentary photography examining violence against women in conflict zones, Jasper Doest's environmental storytelling and Pierpaolo Mittica's work documenting the legacy of Chernobyl. The programme also incorporates the Siena International Photo Awards and other photography competitions. By combining exhibitions, professional recognition and public engagement, the festival demonstrates how photography events can function as international platforms for cultural exchange and contemporary storytelling.
