In an update published November 2, 2026, Iceland Airwaves 2026 revealed an expanded programme extending beyond its main November 5–7 festival dates.

Additional activities running November 2–8 include live performances at Keflavík International Airport, intimate record-store concerts, film screenings, cultural discussions and international artist showcases across Reykjavík.

Iceland's President Halla Tómasdóttir will formally open the festival on November 4, while travellers departing Keflavík Airport will be able to experience special performances by Icelandic artists.

The expanded programme includes both free and ticketed events, with different access arrangements depending on the venue.

For music event organizers, the initiative illustrates how festivals can transform airports, retail spaces and urban landmarks into alternative performance venues, extending audience engagement beyond traditional concert stages.
